Kitchen Refurbishment

Figtree Hotel is a bustling location in the inner west of Wollongong, offering great food and beverage, outdoor terrace, TAB, and Gaming experiences. This kitchen refurbishment project was an essential upgrade to the operations of a busy venue.

Scope included demolition of existing kitchen; new wall tiling, epoxy floor system, and ceiling; new exhaust system and kitchen equipment. Miscellaneous venue improvements including lighting and greenery improvements, switchboard and wiring upgrades, outdoor blinds and gas heaters, replacement water heater, and Gaming Room exhaust.

Empire were engaged as Project Manager and Superintendent throughout planning, design, construction and handover phases.

The Challenges

The project was carried out in a live environment which posed challenges for the venue in order to maintain kitchen service throughout the stages of the project.

The Solutions

A temporary kitchen and ablution blocks were coordinated for the venue to ensure that this project had minimal disruption to the venue’s trade.

The Outcomes

The venue was able to maintain its normal trade whilst the new kitchen was developed. The kitchen is now state of the art in terms of functionality, design and ventilation.
