Allied Mills owned the redundant Flour Mill in Albury. The scope required the team to examine the development potential for the site and assess the adaptive reuse of some of the heritage mill buildings.
Development options were developed and potential uses for the site were identified that clearly articulating the development limitation of site if the heritage structures were retained. Consultation was undertaken with Albury Council and Heritage Council of NSW that resulted in overturning the heritage status of the site.
The heritage status of the project needed to be updated in order for the project to proceed. In close consultation with the Heritage Council of NSW and by supplying all required documentation and applications, the heritage status was successfully lifted.
Once the heritage status was lifted, a demolition package was procured, and contract administration and Superintendent services provided during demolition works. The concrete silos fronted onto a major highway that needed to be shut down and diverted during demolition.
The project was successfully completed on time and to budget. Upon completion of the demolition works Allied Mills were able to successfully dispose of the site.
