Ecomm Store Upgrades

The COVID-19 Pandemic has seen a shift in how people go about their grocery shopping. As a result, Woolworths Supermarket has experienced a steep uplift in their online orders and 20 strategic stores were identified in Queensland as in need of an upgrade to cope with the influx of increasing online orders.

The project manager worked together with the property and finance team to develop business plans for each store prior to delivery. The works involved refurbishments of the internals and a new canopy structure on the outside for a drive thru/click and collect option for customers. Tight deadlines were met at each stage of the project, namely design, authority approvals (council/ centre management/ landlord/ QFES), tender, construction and handover. The project delivery was well received by all end-users, customers and staff and all stakeholders, noting that works were delivered in a live environment.

Our works included scoping and developing budget for each store. Procurement. Tender and assessment. Statutory Approvals. Manage delivery of works and defects close out. Weekly Site Meetings. Stakeholder management.

The Challenges

The project involved the installation of Ecomm stores into 20 Woolworths supermarkets across QLD within extremely tight deadlines. The project was delivered within an operationally live environment where disruption to everyday trade had to be minimised.

Successful installation of 20 ecomm stores on time, on budget and defect-free.
