Storage King Burleigh Heads
In partnership with Abacus Group and Storage King Group, we were engaged to deliver project management consultancy services for the upgrades required at the Storage King Burleigh Heads facility.
The scope of works included a feasibility study, design development and construction of a new retaining wall and stairs. Refresh and rebranding works were also delivered which included the demolition of the old retail space and removal of non-structural walls to expand the retail space and create a staff kitchenette.
The retail space and new kitchenette were given a fresh coat of paint, new fixtures, furniture and flooring. The external works included replacing the old shopfront signage and the installation of a new pylon sign. A contemporary refurbishment of the existing amenities was also delivered.
The Challenges
The building was out of plumb and not at right angles in some areas which was a latent condition that had to be addressed carefully.
The Solutions
Our team identified various scope of works that were not required but still in line with Australian building standards, e.g. threshold ramp instead of concrete ramps, to absorb additional work e.g. additional tiling, installation of flashings to make good, required due to the building being out of plumb and to avoid unnecessary variations.
The Outcomes
The project was successfully delivered on time, on budget and defect free. Storage King Burleigh Heads now provides more than 300 ground floor storage units in 22 different sizes to suit a wide range of storage requirements.
