The free-standing Huntington’s Disease Unit was delivered at the St Joseph’s Hospital site at Auburn to accommodate patients suffering from Huntington’s Disease.
The new unit is owned and operated by SV and MHS in partnership with WSLHD Huntington’s Service at Westmead Hospital.
The relocation of the residential component will be undertaken with a revised model of care.
The scope of works included a 20 bed facility, comprising 14 residential aged care beds, 4 neuropsychiatric beds and 2 assessment and monitoring beds.
Project Management and Contract Administration services were provided throughout design and construction phase.
To ensure the scope of works were delivered to the high level of NSW Government and Health regulations and requirements.
Associated administration and patient living areas enabled independent operation including lounges, dining, activities areas, staff offices, and a staff station.
A state of the art disease unit comprising of 14 new aged care beds, 4 neuropsychiatric beds and 2 assessment and monitoring beds. Landscaping and an external deck was constructed around a mature gum tree.
