Highlands School

Highlands School is a School for specific purpose operated by the NSW Department of Education. The school has a current enrolment capacity of 42 students from schools in Wingecarribee Shire and Wollondilly in Years 5-12 that exhibit challenging behaviours, emotional disturbance and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The primary objective of the development is to facilitate additional teaching facilities to service existing and future student enrolments. Schools Infrastructure NSW will be implementing their new set of guidelines, Modern Methods of Construction (MMoC) to fast track delivery of the expansion of the school by incorporating the installation of a series of modular units designed to function as one integrated building with common circulation areas and pedestrian ingress/ egress points.

Empire has been engaged to manage the design and delivery throughout the entire project lifecycle.

The Challenges

The project involves adhering to the new set of guidelines, Modern Methods of Construction which will fast track the delivery of the works.

The Solutions

Installation of specially designed modular units which will function as one integrated building.

This project is still under construction.
