Bringing a sense of mediterranean to Sydney

Georges River Sailing Club is situated on beautiful sandy shores with picturesque views of Botany Bay towards Towra Point and Woolooware Bay.

The amenity of the Club was quite dated, and our client wanted to improve the sense of arrival and reconfigure the internal layout to use existing spaces better and provide a greater connection to the water views.

Empire was engaged as Project Manager throughout planning, design, construction, and handover phases.

The Challenges

The scope included the relocation of the function space to provide higher-quality views. Refurbishment of the existing club to a more Mediterranean look and feel. External works including a new entrance and balcony were also completed.

The Solutions

The sailing club is extremely popular and busy amongst the local community therefore the requirement was for construction to be managed in stages to ensure the venue is kept online for patrons.

The Outcomes

A successful transformation of this waterfront icon was completed in late 2025 which is now home to the Mediterranean-inspired Porta Dining, revitalised function spaces, a new sports bar and upgraded entertainment facilities, all set against the backdrop of Dolls Point Beach and Botany Bay.
