Mile End Warehouse Upgrade
Allied Mills have a flour mill at Mile End, a suburb of Adelaide in SA. The main warehouse, constructed in the early 20th century, raised significant concerns to its overall structural capacity and safety.
Design work had been completed and the project was due for construction commencement when the client needed to engage an external project manager to review the procurement process, finalise the engagement of a contractor capable to meeting the project requirements and within budget and manage the administration of the contract.
Services provided consisted of project management, procurement and contract administration.
The Challenges
The facility included some packaging plant, bulk storage, dispatch and enclosed truck loading dock which required to be kept operational.
The Solutions
The warehouse rebuild was phased whilst the mill continued to operate and the warehouse partially operational. The construction of the project was managed in accordance with an approved budget and program.
The Outcomes
The project was successfully completed on time and to budget. Allied Mills was able to achieve its business objectives and continue the supply of quality products to its customers.
